Alfresco 1.3 Review - An Interview with John Newton, Co-Founder and CTO of Alfresco

In this Podcast I review Alfresco 1.3 with John Newton, Co-Founder and Chief Technical Officer of Alfresco.

Specifically we discuss:

  • What were the major focus areas around 1.3?
  • What was done to increase scalability and performance?
  • The larger a system the more focus there is on administration. What has been done here?
  • The other major area of focus was customization. This obviously affects the server and the client. What has been done here?
  • CIFs is probably the most common interface to Alfresco. What work has been done on CIFS?
  • Collaboration is a whole area in itself and the concept of SmartSpaces and email interaction is key to this. What has been done here?
  • Other areas of interest.
