Today I am extremely excited to announce that Alfresco in the cloud has officially launched and is now generally available for enterprise production to be used by large organizations of business users. In fact, we already have some significant companies lined up ready to take advantage of our new offering with over 15,000 companies signed up in the past 90 days!

The latest release of our service includes the core features our customers require in the cloud to support business-to-business collaboration – accessing their content anywhere, on any device with a focus on reliability, resilience and security. This foundation will ensure enterprises can confidently adopt the service for large numbers of users to address real use cases, while at the same time guarantee content remains secure and under their control. Continuing to look toward the future, we have an exciting roadmap of new features that will allow end-users to gain even more value out of Alfresco empowering users to do great work.
A testament to Alfresco’s ability to execute and re-invent itself, the cloud has never been just another new product for us. Over the last 11 months, it has challenged us to not only design and launch the product, but build new teams with new skills that are capable of delivering and running a successful cloud service. This has been as much a company transformation as it has been a product one. Along the way we have evolved our DNA from a traditional on-premise organization to one that is capable of running a large-scale cloud service for millions of users across thousands of enterprises around the world.
Alfresco in the cloud is built on the same trusted open-source platform used by over 3,000 enterprises around the world. This means we can provide a far more sophisticated service than the simple file sharing and collaboration services offered by cloud-only vendors. As the only mature ECM platform, we can now fully provide a simple to use collaboration solution anywhere, on any device, regardless of whether enterprises want to keep their content behind the firewall, in the cloud or both.
Today’s launch is just the beginning of our cloud connected vision. Over the next few months we will be talking in more detail about our cloud vision and how Alfresco in the cloud fits into our existing solution and can meet the needs of both the enterprise and today’s business users. Until then, sign up, try it for yourself for free and let us know what you think of our new cloud service!
