Learning Pathway #1: Topics that Every Administrator Should Know

Wednesday, May 18th, 2011

Learning Pathway is a new series of webinars bought to you by the good people in Alfresco’s training department.
In this 40 minute tutorial, Carlos Miguens talks us through:

  • Repository Configuration
  • Extensions
  • Content Model and workflow deployment options
  • JMX console
  • Error logging

One of the attendees on the live session asked “Is it possible to add custom field imports from Active Directory?”

Yes, it’s possible, but it will need an override to common-ldap-context.xml. There is a map in there which maps LDAP attributes to repository properties, for AD we just use a variation of this so the process is the same.

You will find this file in the directory {configRoot}/alfresco/subsystems/Authentication. As Carlos mentioned on the webinar you should NOT change files here. To over-ride copy the file to the {extensionRoot} directory structure and make the change there.

See this page for how to over-ride.  A more detailed answer will appear soon in Carlos’ blog.

Tuesday, May 10th, 2011

Watch the webinar HERE

C1 is currently streamlining a real-time pharmacy processing workflow by accepting faxes of prescriptions and accepting them directly into Alfresco for Document Management for a Fortune 300 Healthcare company.  Alfresco not only improved the efficiency of accepting faxes and then scanning for processing, but the solution reduced the digital footprint by having the original content becoming the stored content digitally without having to store and manage a regulatory managed original hardcopy.  Our Alfresco implementation is saving effort and improving the quality of future compliance audits.
